Five Items To Do For Success At Social Networking Sites

This is a post by my friend Ken Kinstle. It is excellent

Five Items To Do For Success At Social Networking Sites

by mrken777 on Dec.08, 2008, under Business, Success

Number One- Always greet your new followers! Depending on how many people start to follow you, that will determine whether you do it manually or use a program like Tweetlater to welcome new followers. Tweetlater is nice because as soon as they follow you a message goes out introducing yourself and thanking them. Resist the urge to post a link in this thank you message! How would it be when someone shook your hand for the first time they then tried to sell you something in the next sentence! A lot of people do post a link or a give away or anything, but I say be friendly, say hello let them come to you. This is far more effective than blasting a new person before they have heard a word that you have said…

Number Two- Be sure to post valuable information, interesting articles, photos, video links, music links. Give something of value to keep people interested. Insert links, affiliate links, the things that you sell sparingly or what the community will absorb. Keep them wondering what you will come up with. Google news reader is what I use mainly for this. Set it up to receive different RSS feeds from news, blogs or what ever might be interesting and apply to their lives. Its not always about what we like, I am the worst at this! My followers do hear a lot of motorcycle related stuff, I try not to over do it. Give them something of value for listening to your posts.

Number Three- Keep the personal stuff to a minimum, there needs to be some real life stuff that relates to your readers and prove you are not a post generating robot. My goodness not many want to know that much, I stubbed my toe, oh I put salt on my eggs, Come on.. Use discretion, be personal, and share when asked but don’t blog every breath the new puppy takes. I think you get this!

Number Four- Double check your posts for spelling, grammar, accuracy and by all means make sure the link works! You don’t have to be a scholar, or have perfect English grammar. I know mine is really rough! Do your best though, what you say and how you say it is all people have to judge you by. Not many successful first grader marketers out there. What I am saying is be a professional, if you want people to take you seriously! Double check the link after you have posted it! I am telling you, we all have posted bad ones and it looks very slip shod. Who wants to hook up and buy something from a third rate marketer. OK enough on that, one of my pet peeves.

Number Five- In this list anyway, answer your messages as quickly as you are able. Strike while the iron is hot! I do not mean just answer those that look like customers. Some of the people I spend the most time on messaging and the phone never really make a bunch of sales. People just want to be heard, answer your phone calls, messages and your messages posted as soon as possible. Do not try to evaluate the person asking right away, or wait if you can reply. To be a professional we must answer all reasonable questions and be polite.

Treat people with respect. Treat them like you want to be treated and enjoy great success in your social networking adventures.

Just wish I was riding,

Twitter Guilt

I have to confess two things:

1. I have made it a point since beginning with Twitter to always send a personal thank you to ever single person who follows me. I have also looked at every profile so I could say something unique to that person in my thank you. Lastly, I have consciously make a choice as to who I follow back based on bio's, pictures, content, etc...I am not a big believer in auto-following. In fact, we just had a discussion going about his tonight on Twitter. So here is confession number one.

I got behind. REALLY, REALLY behind. I had over 150 new emails in my inbox telling me about new followers. Every day I would say "tomorrow". Tomorrow I will thank each one and look at each profile. Every day it was more overwhelming. So today I went against my own system. I set up an auto-thank you and and auto-follow and that is what I used for the last week's worth of new followers. I'm sorry if you were one of them. Please do not take it personally. I figure that an auto-thanks is way better than no thanks at all, and that's where things were heading.

I really do feel guilty. Is there a support group for Twitter-guilt? If you are someone who followed me in the week between Christmas and New Years, please understand. I will look for your tweets and take extra time to respond personally over the next few days. Thank you.

2. This is a good one for guilt. Twitter is fun. It is more fun than anything else I do online. My husband asked me tonight if it's good business or just good fun. So here is the amazing part. In the short time I've been tweeting on twitter (about 6 weeks), I've developed more business contacts than in 6 months using other forms of social media. So guilt...more fun, more business. I once heard that work was supposed to be hard. LOL!!

How To Use Social Media To Grow Your Network Marketing Business

What is Social Media?

Social media is a large group of tools and applications available on the internet that allow you to interact "socially" with a very large diverse group of people.

According to Wikipedia, " Social media are primarily Internet- and mobile-based tools for sharing and discussing information among human beings.[1] The term most often refers to activities that integrate technology, telecommunications and social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio. This interaction, and the manner in which information is presented, depends on the varied perspectives and "building" of shared meaning among communities, as people share their stories and experiences. Businesses also refer to social media as user-generated content (UGC) or consumer-generated media (CGM)."

Social media is part of the Web 2.0 explosion and the cutting edge in New School methods for growing a network marketing business. In this post we will briefly cover a variety of tools and methods for utilizing social media to grow your MLM business.

Attraction Marketing is the Key to MLM Online Success

If you have not yet heard about attraction marketing, then you must take time to do so. The idea of attraction-based marketing has been around for awhile, but it was not until Mike Dillard synthesized all the information and created his Magnetic Sponsoring course, that the majority of people knew what it was or how to use it.

The idea behind attraction-based marketing or Magnetic Sponsoring is that you use social media to create an strong online presence. You offer value, information and the uniqueness of you in a form that people can grasp. As you develop yourself online and your leadership abilities in the real world, you will attract others to you. This is how you grow you business. People come to you and want to know you, work with you and join you. This is the opposite of old school network marketing where you went after them. It is powerful, clean, refreshing and fun.

The best place to learn about Attraction Marketing is by getting your hands on Dillards Free 7 Video Boot Camp. Once you've worked your way through that the next thing to do is to set up an account on a website called Better Networker. This will be your first step in using social media and also the best introduction to attraction marketing in action.

Get onto Better Networker and just look around for a few days. Read the forum posts and the replies. Read some articles. Watch some videos. Take a good look at people's profiles prior to creating yours. They had a profile contest a few months back with a great tutorial..watch it. As you are finding your way around this site you will be beginning to understand how people present themselves in the social media world without pitching their product or biz. Better Networker is social media. It is a social networking website devoted to network marketers. In many ways it is similar to Facebook or MySpace (also social networking sites), but the audience and participants are hightly targeted.

You can also become a student of Renegade University. Renegade U. is an online "school" where you learn all the aspects of attraction marketing from a philosophical perspective. Then you have a vast selection of online videos that teach you everything that you need to do from a technological perspective, step-by-step. You'll also learn how to use Social Marketing Etiquette, which is as important to know as the techie stuff.

Twitter (and Social Bookmarking)

There are presently hundreds of sites on the internet that you can use to present youself to your target audience. I use a variety of social bookmarking sites that I post to every time I write a hub or a blog post. Some examples are: Digg, Propeller, Reddit, Stumble-Upon. The list is almost endless. Visit a site called Social Poster.com and you can see a long list of social bookmarketing sites and learn how to post yourself on them.

My favorite place to hang out online these days is Twitter. Twitter scares people initially because it is fast and live. I like to think of it as a big, world-wide online cocktail party/chat. When you first approach twitter it is hard to know what to do. So first (after you creat your twitter profile) visit twitter search and put in a keyword that interests you. Read what comes up and then click on the name of the person who posted(tweeted) click on "follow" under their name. Now whenever you log onto twitter you will see whatever that person has written, appear on your screen. Generally, if you follow them, they will follow you back. This is good.

When you create your Twitter Profile, make sure that you enable direct messaging and email notifications. When someone follows you, follow back and say thanks in a direct message. Soon you will log onto your page and see a flurry of different tweets and conversations going on. This is good. Join in once you feel comfortable. Don't pitch. Don't spam. Don't sell. Just be a real person and interact with the people who are tweeting. Once you get the hang of this you will see that there is a time and place to include links to your blog or website. (Watch the video above for a great analogy explaining twitter and blogs).

Twitter is the fastest growing social media on the internet. It can now even interact seamlessly with Facebook if you set it up that way. Many people do a lot of business on Twitter. You should be one of them if you want to grow your network marketing business using social media.

OK..I'm Totally Confused!! What Do I Do Next??

Total confusion is often the reaction to all of this information. Do not worry. You are not lacking in brain cells. Using social media is very confusing initially and only gets clearer as you work your through it, step-by-step. This is where a good coach/mentor comes into play and a training system. Luckily a man named Mike Klinger saw how confused people were getting and sought to remedy the situation. He created the best social media training that I have yet to see in this industry. It is appropriated called a " University".

Renegade University is an amazingly complete online classroom. There are step-by-step video tutorials for every aspect of using social media to create your online presence and grow your network marketing company. The beauty is that you can work through the training at your own pace AND do the steps on your computer while Klinger is walking you through them in the video. It is almost like having a teacher sitting next to your computer with you.

Renegade University did not exist when I began my social media journey. I learned each step by trial and error and honestly it took months to really feel a conceptual and practical understanding of the whole thing. By using Renegade University, if you put your mind to it, you can have the basics of your social media system up and working for you in a month. But remember..it is like going to school You have to learn, study, and take action.

Social media is changing the face of network marketing. You will never need to sell to your family and friends again. You will meet people from all over the world. You will be amazed at what can happen..if you are diligent and patient. Growing you network marketing business using social media is a process. You start at the beginning and add on over time. The results start slowly and increase faster and faster as you become more and more competent. This is a New World. Welcome!

Why You MUST Understand Compensation Plans

Taken on it's own (that is, separate from how it is presented and the motivations of the presenter) the compensation of a company is crucial to understand and necessary to your decision making process about joining that company. Yes, people are making money with every different plan under the sun. And people are also failing miserably with the same.

The difference between the efficacy of compensation plans to fairly compensate distributors at every level of the plan cannot be summed up in simple terms such as, "How many people does in take to make $10K per month?" That's a great question to ask, but the answer depends on how many are active, how many are purchasing the minimum AS, how many are purchasing more, how many have dropped out. By all means, use that question as one part of your research, but go further.

The best compensation plans are those that focus on retention. It is far better to recruit 100 people and have 65-75 of them still be with you 1-2 years later, than it is to have to recruit 250 to have 65-75 still with you after that same amount of time. The industry standard it 65%-75% attrition. The reason for this is that many compensation plans are not designed to reward the average person looking to break even on their auto ship and make a few hundred to a thousand or so extra dollars per month, part time. So you need to seriously look for a compensation plan that makes it easy to cover your monthly costs and makes it easy for your down line to cover their monthly costs. With that alone, you create retention. People are using a product they love, for free. Add to that the ability to make some extra income and you are there.

Then there are the people who are more serious about the business. Their goal may be $2k per month up to $5K. Understand what it will take in your plan for them to achieve that goal. Those people and the first group will make up the majority of your organization. You'd do well to have a comp plan that supports them and creates retention. The very serious business builders who are looking for $10k per month and more will be a minority in your organization. These are the full-timers, the people who embrace network marketing as their career. These people have the drive and focus to do well in most compensation, as long as they can motivate and retain their down-line..which leads us back to the majority--those who are looking for a reasonable part time income. Remember, retention is what allow long-term residual income to happen.

So...understanding a compensation plan is crucial. Knowing how many active enrollees let you break even on your auto ship is crucial. Knowing what it takes to reach the upper levels of the plan is crucial. Don't take anyone's word for it. Get out your calculator and run the numbers yourself. If that scares you, it good to start now and get used to doing it.

Bill Farley (Zrii) Interviews Peter Thomas (Century 21)

Bill Farley, the Founder and CEO of Zrii ( Original Amalaki) had a special interview conference call tonight with Peter Thomas..former owner of Century 21 Real Estate for the entire country of Canada. The focus of the call was primarily on what makes a good salesperson.

As an internet attraction marketer, some of the shared information felt very "old school" to me. But there were tidbits of information that were also pieces of gold for anyone in business for themselves. Here is Peter Thomas's list entitled "Rules For Success"

1. Keep it simple
2. Ignore those who say it can't be done
3. Work smart not hard
4. Become a student of your career--learn EVERYTHING you can about what you are doing
5. Don't be an innovator--learn from those who came before and do it better
6. Emulate the best but keep your own spin and personality
7. Write down everything
8. Stay focused--visualization, inspiration, reflection
9. Act enthusiastic--even if it's a bad day--your acting will change the flow of the day
10. Be persistent
11. Practice delegation--this is good leadership
12. Avoid extensive meetings
13. Don't be afraid to make mistakes
14. Have at least 5 mentors
15. Get up early
16. Have fun

I think we'd all agree that this list is relevant whether you're a door-to-door salesperson or a an internet marketer..and whether you're selling a single health product or a series of educational workshops. Please feel free to contact me for mentoring information and assistance in putting these ideals into action.

The Snowball Effect

It's cold. It's snowing. I've been thinking about the development of snowballs. You remember how it's done--you begin with a very little ball and then gradually pack snow around it and then eventually roll it go create an ever bigger ball. The process then yields all different sizes of snowballs from throwing size to snow person size. But no matter how big you want your snowball to be in the end, you must begin with a little glob of snow which you pack together into a dense structure to form the foundation.

Doesn't this sound a lot like network marketing? Especially network marketing done well. You must begin with a very stable foundation. It can be small, but it must be sturdy enough to support that which is going to grow from it. As you develop your skills in both marketing (attraction marketing is my favorite) and your knowledge base for your particular company, you begin adding to your organization. Just like a snowball, you need to roll evenly and keep supporting all the new additions.

Have you ever seen what happens to a snowball that is kind of mushy to begin with? Start rolling one of those around, or add snow and try to pack it. What happens? Yes..the ball crumbles. Have you ever seen what happens to a network marketing organization that does not have a solid foundation? If you begin adding on to your organization without making sure your initial foundation of people is well educated and standing tall in their ability to grow their organization, in my book you are risking the big crumble. You want to create a structure in your organization that will continue growing and functioning even if you weren't there. That is the true definition of residual income. If your foundation is mushy..you will not see this happen.

So, remember the snowball. Start correctly from the beginning. Build strong leaders from the start and then teach your leaders to duplicate the process. (Read this article on duplication if interested). You will then be creating the snow person (or snow people village) of your dreams.

(Apologies to those who live where there is no snow. I'm sure your imagination can go with the analogy.)

Where to Find a Job

"Citigroup, one of the world's biggest banks, is to cut about 50,000 jobs as the bank struggles with heavy losses amid the current financial crisis. The cuts come on top of a further 22,000 job losses announced by the firm in October, of which it said 13,000 have already gone. The company said on Monday its workforce is being reduced by about 20 per cent from a peak of 375,000 in 2007.Al Jazeera's John Terrett in New York said: "This is an astonishing number of workers, on top of those announced earlier this year."It is a measure of the struggling nature of the banking industry ... and of just how grim things are in this economy and that of the wider world."" Quoted from the Global Research Site

Grim news from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics as the numbers of unemployed increases beyond anything seen in the last 34 years.

The government and new agencies are talking about creating jobs and bailing out industries. What about moving one's thoughts and expectations outside the box? It is the 21st century and we need a new paradigm. The economic structure of the 20th century is over. We can clearly see that now. The future is not going to be found in secure corporate jobs with benefits. It is going to be found in home businesses, in entrepreneurship, in thinking and creating income outside of the old structure.

Just listen to this interview a few months ago with Robert Kiyosaki. Those who will thrive in the upcoming years will be those who can shift to a new relationship with money and with the means to create it.

There are industries poised to capture this new world economy. There are those already in these industries who can teach others and benefit from good karma and good business. Learn more about what is coming next by listening to this recorded interview.

What To Do With Your Business Over The Holidays

So there are three weeks until Christmas, a little less until Hannukah. New Year's is right around the corner and we are still digesting turkey from Thanksgiving. Many will say that the holidays is a bad time to do business. People are focused on other things; it's too busy; yada yada yada...

I say, the smart network marketer will be seriously focused on their business RIGHT NOW. There are many reasons:

1. A smart networker is always focused on their business. It is far better to be consistent every day, every week, every season, than to work in spurts or when the mood strikes.

2. This is a difficult economic time. People are looking for ways to make extra income. Even if they begin something new and the income won't be seen until 2009, it feels good to be on a positive track and it helps with the holiday expenses if you know you've got a plan on how to cover them. In addition, many MLM'a offer wonderful products that can be given as gifts. I'm not talking only skin care products, or Discovery toys. I'm talking about services that will keep on giving long after December. I'm talking about energy plans, or preventative wellness products. Those types of things are so much more meaningful and beneficial than another plastic doodad.

3. Guess what comes after the holidays???? January!!! New Year's resolutions; turning over a new leaf; losing weight; paying off debt; starting a new project. January is psychologically a new beginning. Right now is when you should be setting yourself up for a great beginning to 2009

I'm sure there are many other ideas as to what we should be doing with our businesses during the holidays. Please share.

The Law of Attraction IN ACTION !!!

I finally watched the THE SECRET last night. (No, I'm not lost in space...I read the book years ago and then studied more in depth Law of Attraction information such as Jerry and Esther Hicks.) Anyway, I finally watched the movie and it was a bit cheesy, as I expected, yet also an excellent presentation of the message. One point that really got me thinking wa the idea of truly FEELING that which you truly desire.

Think about this for a minute. TRULY FEELING. Not just thinking about it or making a plna or staying positively focused--but FEELING the feeling of already having that which you desire. If it's a new bicycle then create a vision--or a vision board--of your new bike. Picture your hands on the handle bars and the feel of flying down your street pedaling fast past the blur of trees.

If you're searching for the love of your life then draw him/her in words or pictures. Make the description really clear--physical attributes, emotional, spiritual. Get to know him or her in your mind and imagine talking, walking, playing together. FEEL how that will be. FEEL it every day in your mind.

Financial success is the focus on this website. Make it concrete in your FEELIINGS. Do not just think "more money" or "success in my mlm", but picture a $10,000 check arriving in your mailbox. FEEL yourself opening the envelope and pulling out the check. See the check with your name on it. See that number written on line. Look at it. Hold it in your hands. Imagine talking to others about your great month. Imagine spending some of it on debt, on fun, on charity. FEEL what that IS like for you. FEEL $1000 or $1,000,000. Paste it on your vision board or on your ceiling.

Do you want to have a downline of 20,000 people? Be there now. Think abou the people. What countries are they from? Plan your conference calls and your team emails. Draw on outline of your geneology. Use some concrete tools to truly get a feeling of how big 20,000 really is. Do you know a town near you that has 20,000 people in it? Go there. Imagine every one of them being in your downline. How does that FEEL? Feel those feelings of leadership, success, responsibility, leadership.

Now you will begin to see the Law Of Attraction at work. The recent unfolding in my own business life can have no other explanation except for the Law Of Attraction manifesting as it has since the dawn of time. Amazing!!

(End note: As a psychotherapist I often take clients on "imaginary journeys", using guided imagery. I also use this technique in my mentoring and coaching when appropriate. Visit Success Mentoring System information)

It's About the DUPLICATION--Duh!!

OK All you super recruiters/sponsorers out there...here is the $10,000 question: Is it better to recruit 100 personals in to your business or to sponsor ten and teach them to sponsor ten? It's not a trick question, it is the essence of network marketing.

There are a lot of articles, blog posts, websites, etc... all aimed at generating leads and ultimately bringing people into your business. Awesome information. But here's the thing. In reality you can only effectively teach and mentor 5-6 people at a time if you want to do it right and truly watch the power of duplication take off in your own organization.

Here is what I do

This may help you move your business to the next level. My focus is on 5-6 business builders at a time. According to Don Faille, who wrote one of the Best Little Books on Network Marketing,
no one can seriously devote themselves to more than that and be effective. Now it may require that you bring 10-20 new people into your business in order to find the 5-6 who are seriously committed to working hard and learning, but that's OK. You know from spending time on Better Networker, that there are many means and tools for doing that.

So What Do I Do With Those 5-6 Business Builders?

I work with them. I connect with them everyday if they want. I TEACH them how to replicate what I do. I help them sort through different networking techniques and find the first few that they want to become experts in. I coach them on how to organize their time and stay focused on their why. I suggest books to read and websites to visit. I'm available for three-way calls and hand-holding on tough days. I become the person who supports them while they launch their business.

What Else Do I Do?

I TEACH them how to REPLICATE what I am doing with them, with their own personals. That is why I have a step-by-step system that I can plug them in to. That way they do not have to reinvent the wheel. I stay on this path with each of my personal sponorees until they have brought on their first 5-6 people and have TAUGHT those people how to begin creating their group of 5-6.

If you diagram it out, that means I stay very focused on each person in my 5-6 person pod until they have two levels going underneath them. That means the third level below me is going strong. Don Faille says that by the fourth level down, your organization has a momentum of it's own. I stay in the loop beyond the third and I'm available no matter how deep in my organization someone is, but...once someone has their second level going, I back off a bit and let them fly...meanwhile...

What I DO I Then?

I fill the space in a the 5-6 person pod with a new business builder and the process begins again.

Do The Math...Leverage is the Key

Each time I assist a business builder to sponsor 5 and then teach and assist them in sponsoring 5, that creates 30 new people in my organization in addition to my personal sponsoree. So if I do that in groups of 5-6...well you do the math...it will be fun to see the numbers for yourself.

Oh, by the way, with all the "Systems" out there you may want to know which one I use. Being a bit old fashioned I prefer to share the details in a real live conversation. The link for connecting with me can be found here....and one more thing....beginning in January 2009 I am going to be starting this process again, from scratch. Interested in knowing more.....it's just a simple capture page teaser.

Learning To Twitter

I haven't had this much fun online in a while...I post and write all over the place...but Twitter is so much fun!! I guess it is the REAL TIME thing. It's like being at a live networking..or maybe more like a cocktail party. I can see how one could use up a lot of their work time, interacting on Twitter.

More seriously, I know many who have made some wonderful business contacts on Twitter. For me, it always goes back to attraction marketing and offering real value. So as I explore what goes on in this Twitter community, my focus is on how I can give benefit to those I meet. It is no different than what I already do on other sites (primarily Better Networker), but it's in real time so you have to think on your feet...and be brief and to the point.

I read a blog yesterday that said that communication on Twitter goes right into the brain and people react more positively and quickly because the pieces of information are smaller and more easily digested than long articles and forums. It will be interesting to see how that evolves...

Turning Straw Into Gold--Business Tips For Troubled Times

It is official. We are in a recession, as is the rest of the world. Stocks are down, jobs are disappearing, food is expensive. After a long time filled with prosperity and growth, the economic engine has changed direction. Are you noticing a reduction in your product sales? Has your downline been shrinking rather than growing? Are you hanging on every word of the Nightly Business Report? Are you concerned?

We, in the network marketing industry, are in a unique position during this economic downturn. We have made a decision to be part of a profession that historically thrives during times of recession. You have a choice as to whether you are going to become part of the culture of FEAR, or whether you are going to be part of the solution. Here are some tips for turning Straw into Gold.

1. Do not allow FEAR to invade your life. You do not need to watch the news every day, nor read the papers, nor check your portfolio. Though it is hard to not be concerned when the hard-working family down the street loses their jobs, remember that you always have choices and that your mind is your most valuable asset.

2. Take an honest look at your current MLM Business. Are you offering a luxury product or one that people need and use on a day-to-day basis? What about the price-point? If you can offer people your product with integrity, even thought times are tough, then do not be afraid to do so. People make financial decisions based on percieved value, not on "Price". So be prepared to show value.

3. Now is when people are looking for alternatives. You potentially are sitting on a viable solution to someone's problem. You have the means and the structure to help someone garner an extra $500 (or more) per month. That might not seem like a lot to you, but it could be a month's worth of groceries for them. Approach people with a servant's heart, not a sales pitch. Let then know that you might be able to help (if you honestly can).

4. Remember that more millionaires are made during times of recession than during times of prosperity. Why? Because that is when there is an opportunity to rise above the crowd and to shine. Of course it could be about making good investments on discounted stocks or property, but it can also be about continuing on your path without wavering or faltering. If you are already growing a business, then continue. Do not be afraid to approach others. Do not sink into the mind-set of "Why would anyone want to invest in a new business now, with times being so bad?" Do not go down that slippery slope.

5. Speaking of mind-set. You are in control of yours regardless of what friends, family and the media say or do. Take time every day to remember that. Breathe. Meditate. Find the strong center inside of you that knows you have control over your own destiny. Make smart, thoughtful business decisions instead of being reactive (which comes from FEAR).

You can turn Straw into Gold as long as you are looking at the straw from the correct perspective.

Coffee, Tea or Special Offer for Me?

If you could imagine the PERFECT network marketing company, what would it look like? Here is my list:
1. An everyday, non-luxury product that people are familiar with...yet still unique
2. Must be a consumable product
3. A compensation plan that focuses on retention and rewards people at all levels of interest and ability.
4. Less than 10 people in one's business downline will cover monthly autoship costs
5. Company is developed and run by EXPERIENCED network marketing professionals who have spend years in the field and know what is truly important for distributor's success.
6. Not a lot of hype..just a solid, well funded, well run company with a good, unique, consumable product. A company that you can hang your hat with for many years.

A company that focuses on customers and on business builders, both. Not just on recruiting "new blood".

So you wonder if a company like this exists. I have been wondering the same thing. What would the product be...water, crackers, tea, coffee, toiletries? Those are all everyday products, yet not unique enough..though there is designer water. What if there were a company that nailed this one on the head? What if it didn't conflict with the company you are with now and yet gave you more oppportunity than you have presently? What if a group of MLM pros, totalling 70 years experience, IN THE FIELD came together and created a company that rewards you for keeping your enrollees, and does not want you to go out and become a recruiting machine? What if the product was something you already use...and so does EVERYONE you know? Would you be interested in learning more if this fantasy were true?

Click Here NOW and we'll get back to you with details. We not only provide Success Mentoring and coaching...we now have the PERFECT situation for you to use what you learn.

No Hype. No extreme recruiting needed. Enroll just 21 Personal's and you'll be at the top of the payplan. No need to recruite your customers...this company is set up for people to JUST BE CUSTOMERS and use this unique, yet everyday product...and you can grow your business just from that. Mentoring For Free Attraction Marketing Lead Generation

As you grow your network marketing business you may be like many I've spoken to. You may not like working your warm market. You may find that cold calling leaves you cold. It could be that you begin getting the idea that your time could be best spent talking to people who are actively looking for YOU. Did you know that if you truly examine the statistics, people don't join opportunities? People join people.

What Your Upline May Not Be Telling You/Attraction-Based Marketing

So whether you're already growing a business or you are exploring options in your journey to financial freedom, wouldn't you enjoy talking to people who want to do the same thing? Attraction-based marketing will bring you in contact with exactly those people. You will need to take the time to educate yourself in this type of marketing. It may be the opposite of what your upline has been teaching you. Don't worry. You can still do those things too. But you may not have to once you have new leads seeking you out on a daily basis.

Magnetic Sponsoring

In my business I use a number of methods to meet new people who are interested in the network marketing profession. The bottom line is to get yourself in front of as many people as possible and OFFER your assistance. Be real. Share what you know and any expertise that you have. Remember...people join people. If you have not yet read Magnetic Sponsoring, by Mike Dillard and at least watched his free videos, you really need to do that today. His material is some of the best there is in the Attraction Marketing arena.

Mentoring For Free

You also have the option of taking advantage of the Mentoring For Free program. This is truly what it says. People in this industry who mentor others for no charge. There is a large body of free materials associated with this program--ebooks, audios and live calls. Whether you are already involved with an MLM, or are actively exploring different companies, this program will be very helpful. There is a wealth of information regarding understanding compensation plans, company structure and then the range of personalities that your prospects have. Mentoring For Free.

Kiyosaki Interview: Financial Smarts in a Bad Economy

Mike Dillard interviewed Robert Kiyosaki this past Thursday (October 9, 2008). The focus of the interview was on the present state of the economy and what people could do to thrive rather than struggle. Robert Kiyosaki is presenting a three day workshop at the end of October and this call was a precursor to the course. The information given was worthwhile for anyone wanting to better understand their present financial situation and what it takes to thrive in difficult times like these. Kiyosaki is all about franchises, real estate and network marketing. He believes that if you truly are looking for wealth than you better be a business owner and not count on most of the advice given to people regarding how to earn and save money. I would strongly suggest reading a few of his books.

Why Kiyosaki (Rich Dad) Endorsed Network Marketing

Robert Kiyosaki, Author of the Rich Dad, Poor Dad Books spoke on a private invitation only conference call today. As most know, the economy has taken its worst hit this week since 1929. People have lost money, world economies are struggling. The media is focusing on all the gloom and doom and people are panicking.

What Did Robert Say?

On the call tonight, Kiyosaki was interviewed by Mike Dillard (Magnetic Sponsoring Guru). Kiyosaki's main point on the call was that NOW is the time to take action. He said, "If you are not in a network marketing or other home base business today, then you are out of business." Four years ago Kiyosaki came out in strong favor of the network marketing industry as the best place for the average person to begin growing their own business. He reiterated that recommendation again tonight.

BAD ADVICE

Kiyosaki said that if you are not rich today--if you are one of the people who had lost a lot of money in the past two weeks--then somewhere in the past you were given BAD ADVICE. In today's economy, job security is a myth. No politician from either party can bring high paying jobs back. Jobs migrate to the location where workers will work for the lowest wage. If you still believe that you can go to school and get out with a degree and get a good, secure job then you are still living in the last century. You must wake up and smell the coffee.

What Should I Do?

Inflation is coming. Depression may be coming. Social Security and Medicare are in grim shape. What are YOU going to do to take control of your financial life? Now is a big opportunity period. You can take action--make a commitment--create income that is totally in your control from network marketing, franchising or other independent business owner situations. Or you can commit to being a coward and join that crowd that is panicking, hiding and praying the they (the government; the company; my parents) take care of me.

What Happened to the Zrii Hawaii Trip?

The world of network marketing can be an interesting place. On their monthly Founder's Conference Call two days ago with Bill Farley and the Co-Founder's, Zrii made an announcement regarding their incentive trip to Hawaii. The announcement was couched as a positive and exciting turn of events, yet the words gave a different message.

Yes, those who qualify for the trip will be going sooner...January 2009 instead of September 2009. Yet the means to qualify have been changed so drastically, that essentially anyone who has not already qualified is going to have a very hard time doing so. Whereas previously you needed to reach certain ranks and maintain them for a certain amount of time to qualify, now if you reach those ranks, they are only taking the top 30 enrollers in each pin level. Previously, you also had the options to buy in to the trip if you did not achieve the 100% paid qualifying level. The new program has taken that away.

I'm wondering what happened? Why it changed and is anyone else wondering about this?

Email Marketing

Learning how to use email for your internet and network marketing efforts is crucial. It is so much harder now than it used to be. Spam filters are intense and people are more savvy. Yet those who know what they are doing are still able to contact myriads of potential customers using email marketing. I am not an email marketing pro by any stretch of the imagination. I often rely on information that I gather from people who are very skilled in this area. The key to success is not knowing everything you need to know, but rather knowing where to find experts in all the different areas you need to access. This book is one of those "experts".

Did you know that network marketing is not a sales business? What?!! You've just spent the last 6 months trying to sell people your product and your opportunity? How is that going for you?

The Middle Class, Free Markets, and The Financial Crisis

This letter from Mark Goodman arrived today in my email. Having a home business, particularly a network marketing business, is a perfect of example of a free market economy working the way it's supposed to.

Dear Friends,

The fundamental principle of Barack Obama's economic policies is that sustainable, long-term economic growth requires a robust middle class and properly functioning free markets.

How is the Middle Class Doing?

We have just completed the first economic expansion on record during which middle class incomes actually declined. At the same time, energy and health care costs have soared. This middle class squeeze is occurring as globalization causes a massive transfer of manufacturing jobs to China and service and technology jobs to India and elsewhere.

IRS data shows that we are in a 30-year trend of increasing income inequality while wealth is becoming increasingly concentrated in the top 1% of households, which now own more than the bottom 90%.

The Bush tax policies have exacerbated this growing inequality by cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans whose incomes have grown faster than any other group while their average tax rate has declined more than any other group.

Obama will correct this distorting effect of the tax code by allowing the Bush cuts to expire and providing tax relief to 95% of households. Taxes will be lower or the same for everyone making less than $250,000 per year. The tax code will revert to its 1990's rates for everyone else.

Capital gains and dividend tax rates will remain the same for people making less than $250,000, and will increase only modestly to 20% for the top 2% of earners.

Middle class relief will also come in the form of a series of tax credits—for tuition, mortgage interest, fuel efficient vehicles, etc.

Since small business are the source of 80% of new jobs in our economy, Obama proposes eliminating capital gains taxes for entrepreneurs and investors in start-ups and small businesses.

He will also reform or eliminate corporate tax loopholes, breaks, and havens in order to eliminate perverse incentives that lead corporations to move jobs overseas or maintain an office in the Cayman Islands.

But it is not enough to reform the tax code. Our economy faces enormous challenges in three key areas—energy, infrastructure, and education—and the thrust of Obama's economic plan is to address each of these areas with an ambitious plan for public and private investment. These challenges can become opportunities for enormous wealth creation and job growth.

In stark contrast to the current Republican administration and Senator McCain's economic proposals, Obama is committed to fiscal discipline. Investments will be paid for with an aggressive approach to wasteful spending and a framework of accountability and efficiency for programs worthy of being funded by the taxpayer.

The $10 billion per month expenditure in Iraq (while the Iraqi government sits on a $79 billion surplus) will come to an end with the responsible conclusion of the Iraq war.

As Justice Brandeis said, sunlight is the best disinfectant. The recently passed Coburn-Obama Bill (The Federal Funding and Accountability Act) will allow anyone to search $1 trillion in government spending. Obama also proposes that citizens be able to read on-line any bill pending the signature of the President; that meetings between lobbyists and government agencies be broadcast on-line; and that it be made public which corporations receive how much in benefits from tax bills.

How is the Free Market Doing?

A market that is subject to manipulation, that incurs excessive risk, that lacks accountability for that risk, and that lacks the transparency necessary for its proper functioning is not free. It is the role of the government through fiscal and monetary policy to ensure stable macroeconomic conditions, and through its regulatory framework to ensure stable financial conditions.

In 2006, Senator Obama introduced legislation to prevent fraud and abuse in mortgage transactions.

In 2007, he formally warned Secretary Paulson and Fed Chairman Bernanke about rising foreclosure rates and proposed a home ownership summit with all the stakeholders in order to avert a crisis.

In a speech at the NASDAQ in the fall of 2007, Obama warned that public trust in the capital markets must be restored and that pain on Main Street may trickle up to Wall Street.

In March, in a speech following the collapse of Bear Stearns, Obama traced the sub-prime crisis to lax oversight and called for a new regulatory framework adequate to new market realities.

But here we are. With respect to the proposed $700 billion bail-out (which, by the way, is only the beginning), Obama is insisting that there be no blank check and proposes the following stipulations:

  1. A bi-partisan, independent Board to ensure oversight and accountability for the money that is spent.
  2. That the taxpayer be treated like an investor and participate in the up-side
  3. That the foreclosure problem be addressed in a separate bill
  4. That Wall Street CEO's not receive bail-out money in the form of bonuses

Going forward, financial firms that can be bailed out by the government should be subject to government oversight. Capital and liquidity requirements should be strengthened. The regulatory agencies should be streamlined to address the post Glass-Steegel reality. And there must be a process to identify systemic risk to the financial system with regular reporting to the President and Congress.

Free markets facilitate prosperity. A robust middle class drives long-term economic growth. It's time for a President who understands these basic principles.

Marketing Lessons From A 15 Year Old

Dear Friends,

Would earning an extra $900 a month make a BIG difference in
your life?

Sure, it'd be great, but it probably wouldn't have a huge impact
on your mortgage, retirement savings, orthodontist bills, kids'
college fund, or the piles of bills that are cluttering up your
desk, right?

But what if you could earn that $900 a month by working just
5-8 hours?

And what if, by using the same strategies you used to make
that first $900, you could quickly start to DOUBLE it... and
double it again... and again...

... until you're making potentially thousands a month. Does
*that* change the picture?

I was just reading a case study on Derek Gehl's website about
a 15-year-old girl who's actually doing this: making $900 a
month on the Internet while working no more than 8 hours.

http://www.marketingtips.com/success-online/t/1006266

She obviously has NO business training or experience, and at
just 15, she's clearly pretty short on "life" experience, too,
but still, she's given up babysitting for good, thanks to the
success she's having with her website.

And while she's not exactly getting wealthy (yet!), she's
using the exact SAME strategies that hundreds of other
successful Internet entrepreneurs have used to make MUCH more
(sometimes millions of dollars) with their own Internet
businesses.

I really recommend you check out her case study on Derek's
site!

In it, he actually walks you through the exact, step-by-step
system she, and thousands of his other clients, are using to
achieve these remarkable results with their Internet businesses.

To read the case study, just follow this link:

http://www.marketingtips.com/success-online/t/1006266

Enjoy,
Deborah

P.S. When you read the case study, Derek will give you permission
to use the profit generating strategies it reveals yourself for
30 days, to see if they'll work for YOU, too...

... so make sure you check it out right away!

How To Weather the Financial Storm

Bank fears, AIG fallout drive Wall St sell-off.

Banks rush to do deals as Wall St crisis deepens.

McCain, Obama seek reform amid US financial turmoil

Pretty scary stuff in the news these last few days. How are your personal finances? How secure is your job? There are many people who just last week would have felt really comfortable and are now feeling a lot of anxiety. There are many more people looking for or open to an additional stream of income today than there was two weeks ago. So what does this mean in terms of this blog?

Here is the answer. It means that now is a wonderful time for the business of Network Marketing. You may be wondering how people will pay for their enrollment into a new company when they are struggling with gas and groceries? The answer is that most people will find a way to get involved if they see the value for themselves and their families. If you have a company that offers a unique, consumable product, a great compensation plan and practical, effective training for new business owners, then you must get out there and offer your opportunity. You will be offering a gift to those who need and want to develop an alternative source of income.

Network Marketing is historically an industry and profession that thrives during times of recession and financial uncertainty. You owe it to your friends and family to share with them, this means for making additional money. You would want them to do the same for you.

Football Call and Financial Markets

I find it hard to believe that at the same time as the US Financial Markets were at the brink of disaster, news shows spent at least as much time on the Bronco/Charger bad football call. Maybe I'm unique, but the values that portrays are just another example as to why as a society we need to regroup and re-think what is really important.

While Lehman Brothers was dissolving, the war in Afghanistan was escalating, the US Presidential Election was heating up, Houston was under water and people were extremely concerned that an NFL Referee made a bad call. Yes the call probably cost the Chargers the game. But honestly, in the greater scheme of our world, is that important?

It is a disconnect from true importance in our media and our society that continues to keep my so concerned. I believe we all must have a Plan B. I'm sure the clerks and receptionists at Bear Stearns or Lehman Brothers had no idea that they were soon to be jobless. It is for this reason that I am so passionate about network marketing. It is one of the few situations in this country where your success, your income and your security are within your control. Work harder, make more. Learn more and be more committed, build a larger downline. Don't quit and you will secure your financial future.

I offer consultation with people to brainstorm whether or not network marketing is the right avenue for you to pursue. There is no cost and no obligation to get involved with anything or anyone. It is an opportunity to open your mind and explore an alternative, potentially life changing, direction.

14 September 2008

What's Your Plan B?

Do you have a Plan B? According to recent statistics, most Americans are just a few paychecks away from financial disaster. If you lost your job tomorrow, how long could you keep paying your bills? For many, the answer to that question is a scary one. In the past, jobs were easier to come by and expenses were not as extreme. It used to be that banks would not let you have monthly expenses that were greater than 33% of your gross (pre-tax) income. In our current state of affairs, many people have mortgages, car payments, credit card debt and utility payments that are way beyond that conservative 33% number. For that reason, many people are one paycheck away from foreclosure or repossession.

This is why you need a Plan B. A Plan B is the back-up plan. It is an alternative means for generating income, on top of your salaried or hourly job. For many of us, Plan B comes in the form of a Home Business. A well known network marketing professional named Jim Rohn, talks about going to your job to pay your bills while spending 10-15 hours per week building your Fortune with a network marketing company. The beautiful thing, according to Mr. Rohn, is that your network marketing business (Your Plan B) will soon be bringing in money that equals half of what you earn at your job. And if you keep at it, it will then match the money that you earn at your job.

Mr. Rohn knows how to tell a good story. He suggests that people will get very excited to learn how you are making money equal to your full-time job, building your Fortune, part-time. Not only is that a compelling story, but in the economy of today it is imperative. Your Plan B, which begins as your back-up; your extra; your rainy day money, can soon become enough of a substantial cash flow as to make your full-time job a option.

So what do you do then? I believe that once your network marketing business is bringing in all that you need to live on plus more, then it becomes your Plan A, and you create another Plan B. Focus on the primary but never forget the safety net created by having multiple streams of income.

Happy Birthday Google!!

If it weren't for Google, the now 10 year old company that began in California, you would probably not be reading this blog post. The seed of google was planted when two Stanford undergrads wrote their thesis. Yesterday (September 7th, 2008), Google turned ten. Happy birthday Google. Thank you for making the internet the business powerhouse that it is today.

MLM Recruiting is HARD

Have you ever felt just so discouraged because no one wants to hear about your opportunity? Are you one of the hundred of thousands of people who get involved with a network marketing company, only to feel lost and frustrated and drop out? If it's not you, then I'm sure you know someone who has had that experience. I find it so sad. The true reason this happens is not the product, or the company or the compensation plan. It is that no one took the time to first, qualify and second, teach that person.

Before you begin in a new Network Marketing Business, make sure that the person who is sponsoring you took the time to truly educate you. You need to know what will be required in order to be successful. You also need to feel confident that your sponsor will truly be sponsoring you, not just enrolling you and hoping that you make them some money. Network marketing is a business of duplication. You MUST be taught correctly so that you can then sponsor and teach your teammates, correctly.

The success I am having in communication with my prospects is based on things that I have learned from many places. There are two favorites however.

You cannot miss with this book. It is short. It is inexpensive. It is very easy to understand. And it teaches duplication with more power than anything else I've ever seen.

I also highly recommend watching the One Hour video interview. It is free. It is only an hour. You will learn how to position yourself as a leader when you are talking to people. Doing so will make all the difference.

Why the IRS Paid Me Over $2000

Wouldn't that be COOL? There is a very legal, very legitimate way to have the IRS pay you as well. Have a home-based business. Now I'm not an accountant, so you must obviously talk to one or do your own research, as I am not legally able to advise you on taxes. But, having a home business is known to be one of the best ways to save on taxes. Here is an article I found written by an accountant, that outlines why.

If you take the information in that article and now bring in the wonderful world of network marketing, amazing things start to happen with your deductions. Network marketing is a relationship business. When I leave my house and go out into the world and talk to people, I am doing my business. I make a point to talk to at least one, if not 3-4, new people about what I'm doing, every time I go to town. Every time I go to town, I deduct my milage ($.58/mile beginning in July 2008). That alone adds up to thousands of dollars per year that I am deducting.

Do you want to hear something funny? The IRS allows you to take a loss in your business for 3 years, as long as you can show that you are working it as a business and not a hobby. There are some people who work their home business just hard enough to break even with their true expenses and then their tax deductions help reduce their income from their primary job. They have fun, get to use their companies products for free and get a tax deduction. By the end of three years, if they've been consistent, they are probably making some really good money with their home network marketing business. Maybe even enough to let go of that JOB.

Paper, printer ink, phone, internet, travel, business meals, office supplies, books, marketing materials, samples, meetings. All are deductible expenses in your home based network marketing business.

MLM is REALLY Simple

Here's a question: "If you could be making $2000 to $6000 per month in just six months on top of what you are currently earning, could you see yourself going back to school for 5-10 hours per week for the next six months to learn how to do it?"
What would you answer? What would some of your friends or acquaintances answer? Do you think in your circle of contacts you would be able to find just FIVE people who would answer "YES" to that question. Now, if you could find FIVE people who would answer affirmatively to that question, so you think those FIVE people could also find FIVE people who would answer "YES" to the same question? Now Watch This:

2x2=4; 4x2=8; 8x2=16; 16x2=32
Add 1
3x3=9; 9x3=27; 27x3=81; 81x3=243
Add 1
4x4=16; 16x4=64; 64x4=256; 256x4=1024
Add 1
5x5=25; 25x5=125; 125x5=625; 325x5=3152

The green number represent your first level, purple your second level, blue the 3rd and red your fourth level down.

This is an example of Metcalf's Law of Exponentials. Anybody who can share the wonderful experience of network marketing with just two people, could easily find two or three more with which to do the same. Your job/your commitment in network marketing is to teach the five first serious people that you bring in to your organization, how to do the exact same thing that you just did. And then guess what? You also teach them how to teach their five people the EXACT same thing and watch what happens. Even if you ONLY went down three levels, if you add up the Green, Purple and Blue numbers in the last row (The FIVE row), you will see that you'll have over 700 people in your organization. (And then look what happens at the fourth level!!)

If their is any question about who is actually buying your product, there is your answer. Anyone who is doing the business is also using the product. Commissions are paid on product. You have 775 PRODUCT CONSUMERS in your organization (and probably more), just by going deep and duplicating for 3-levels with a duplication system of FIVE.

I can hear some of you now...."I've tried it...no one wants to join...it's too hard...people think it's a pyramid scheme...people think its a mickey mouse business...." Well I have news for you. If it hasn't worked for you in the past it is time to do something different. If you keep doing what you've done, you'll keep getting what you've got. That is definition of insanity. So I want you to go out and read this book. It will take you less than an hour. The book is called The 45-Second Presentation That Will Change Your Life. It was written by Don Failla. When you finish this book you will know exactly how to approach your next prospect and how to quickly bring FIVE new serious people into your business.

Best Recruiting Tip for Monavie, Xango, Goji Reps

Are you with a juice MLM? There are a lot of us out there, aren't there? I'm sure your product is great. So is mine. But that in and of itself does not bring business builders running to our doors, asking to join our organization. Network Marketing Recruiting is an art. There are many books you can read and one particular CD series which is phenomenal, but ultimately, you learn the skill and incorporate them into your personality. MLM recruiting is an art. Luckily, you will get better at it as you practice. You get better at anything when you practice.

On your way, here is a the best tip to keep you from getting discouraged. It is a story told to me by a man who has been very successful in this industry for the past 15 years. "Once there was a man who wanted to mow his lawn. But when he went to the shed, he realized that his lawn mower was broken. He walked over to his neighbors house and asked to borrow the neighbor's mower. The neighbor said, "no". The man asked why, since it was obvious that the neighbor was not using the mower. The neighbor said, "Because my wife in the kitchen making stroganoff". The man was confused. He asked his neighbor how his wife cooking stroganoff had anything to do with borrowing the lawn mower. The neighbor said, "It doesn't. I just don't want to loan you my mower and I had to come up with some reason."

So next time a prospect stands you up, or does not return a call or says that the babysitter was sick or the tire was flat or their back went out...understand that you were just "Stroganoffed" . Have a good laugh and move on. The best MLM Recruiters get Stroganoffed at least 5-10 times per day.

Give Without Want and You'll Get What You Need

Have you noticed that when you begin with a new network marketing company there is such a focus on communicating the story of your company and your product. You receive marketing literature, CD's, DVD's all talking about the wonders of your juice/pill/carwash/travel company. I all honesty, a lot of this material is extremely well put together and gives the potential customer or business partner a lot of good information to help them make a decision.

But is that really what people need and look for when deciding to join a network marketing company? According to Mike Dillard in his book Magnetic Sponsoring, it is not. People will not join you as a business partner because you have the latest/greatest/best/most lucrative/ground floor opportunity. People will join you in your business because of you. Who are you? Are you someone who can help them reach for their dreams and goals?

This idea might seem discouraging at first. "Who am I?", you might be asking. "Why would someone want to work with me?" Once you read more about Attraction-Based Marketing, your questions will be answered. Everyone in your company is offering the exact same product and the exact same compensation plan as you. Everyone in the network marketing industry is offering the best compensation plan and the quickest route to riches beyond your wildest dreams. But you---you are unique. No one can offer what you can. You have experiences that no one has had. You have ideas that are derived from your own imagination and creativity. Start by thinking about your special attributes.

Then give to others. Share what you know. Write articles that help others with a problem. Assist people in your company, even if they're not in your direct line. In fact, offer value wherever you go. You will be creating an expansive, abundant vibration and through that, abundance will find its way back to you. Try it.

70% of Network Marketers Are Women

Most Network Marketers Are Women

According to the industry statistics, even after you remove the "women oriented" companies, like Mary Kay and Arbonne, women are still the majority in the network marketing industry. In fact, 70% of network marketers are women. So one of the most innovative companies in network marketing is tailoring some of their presentations and training specifically to women, and the response is fabulous.

At the recent Zrii Rising Star Academy in Salt Lake City, over 800 people spent two full days learning in depth information as to how to market their business and improve their results and the lives of others. In that context, there was a presentation which focused entirely on women. Four strong women Independent Executives from the field talked not only about their philosophy and success techniques, but also about validity of women doing this business differently than men. I know, from the response of the audience, that there was collective female sigh of relief when this was spoken.

Unfortunately, like most businesses in this country, the top IE's in this new company are primarily men. But the powerful women in Zrii are rising to the top and have made it clear that women can use their inherent passion and excellent communication skills to succeed in this business, even if they approach it differently than the men. Women have the flexibility to use techniques that work for the men---when they want to---but also to use their amazing right-brained female skills to relate to people in a unique manner as well. What that does is to level the playing field, so to speak.

In Zrii, women are respected for what they bring to the organization. From training presentations to women specific conference calls, Zrii is making sure that women in this company know how much they are appreciated. If you'd like to know more about this, please feel free to contact me

What To Do When Life Gets In The Way

Below is a copy of an email I just received from Mark Wieser. If you don't know Mark Wieser you can meet him in this video. Here he is being interviewed by Mike Dillard. Mark is a guru in the network marketing industry. I 'm think you'll find what he writes below to be useful in your own business.

"You have a network marketing business.
You have a plan, and you KNOW where
you're headed.

But let me ask you:

Does it ever seem like just when you start to
get somewhere (and make some real progress)...

LIFE gets in the way?

Something comes up... a problem at work.
Trouble at home. A family challenge.
Whatever?

If so, you're not alone.
It happens to all of us.

Often, there's no way to avoid it.
After all, there are many things in
life we just can't control.

So what's a networker to do?

While it's true we can't control all
life throws at us, we CAN control our
response to it.

Instead of coming unglued, get creative.
Ask yourself questions like: "what can
I do to turn this into an advantage?"
"How can I modify my approach to keep
things moving forward (or at least,
to keep things from moving backwards).

It pays to be flexible. To roll with
the punch, and spring back with a fresh
approach to the challenge that's been
thrown at you.

When you make plans for your business,
make contingency plans as well. Don't
plan as if nothing will go wrong (something
always goes wrong, doesn't it? Instead,
have a plan "b" and "c" in place so when
life takes a turn, you've got options.

Let me share a personal example.

Last year, we flew across country
to spend Thanksgiving with family.

We'd planned a simple 6 day trip,
and since we were going to be spending
90% of the time at a resort, I was
looking forward to a relaxing time.

I knew I PROBABLY didn't need to drag
a laptop with me, but I did anyway,
"just in case."

The day before Thanksgiving, my dad
had a heart attack. We were blessed with
very good doctors, and my dad made it
through, but it was a difficult time for
all of us. What's more, our 6 day family
trip turned into well over a month long
stay for me. Thanks to my Macbook,
I was able to stay "plugged in" even
being so far from my home office.

Moral of the story: sometimes a little
PLANNING can help keep things on track.

Now you don't have to be traveling anywhere
to exercise some good planning.

The fact is, you should always have an
up to date WRITTEN plan for your business.

I have a friend in this business who
suffers from depression. Whenever it
hits her, she gets knocked down for
weeks at a time, sometimes longer.

Now depression is a serious battle
and there's no easy answers BUT once
again, a little planning can sometimes help
minimize the impact on one's business.

With a written plan, you've got a roadmap
you can always refer to (no matter what
life's thrown you) to help get you back
on track (or stay on track). At a glance,
your plan helps ground you, center you,
and shows you what needs to be done.

If you're unable to do it, at least you can
ask upline or a friend for help, and thanks
to your plan, you know what to ask them
to help you with.

You've probably been told to put your
goals in writing (and that's important)
but it's not enough. Have a written
action plan
too. A daily, weekly,
monthly action plan.

Highlight the key elements in your action
plan (the most important stuff) that keeps
your business on track and make sure that
gets done, even if you can't do all the
other stuff.

PRIORITIZE and work your high-priority
(critical care) line items first.

There are times that may be all you
can do... that's OK. Do what you can.

If you can't even do those because of
a severe life challenge, then reach out.
Ask upline for help.

Most importantly, be patient (and
forgiving) of yourself. Don't beat
yourself up for what you're not doing.
Congratulate yourself on what you
ARE doing. Even if it's just picking
up a phone and asking for help.

We live in an imperfect world. Do
your best to prepare and when life
takes an unexpected turn - refer
to your written plan to help keep
things moving forward.

Until Next Time,

Mark Wieser"
